No-exam life insurance

What kinds of applicants qualify, the process carriers use, and what happens if you don't fit the criteria.

Many firms now offer fast-track underwriting: within age and amount brackets, they decide based on the application itself, past prescriptions, driving record and other information instead of a physical exam. Decisions can arrive within a day. This site's quotes show for each carrier whether an exam is required, might be needed, or not needed.

What it changes

Skipping a medical exam still means underwriting happens. Your statements are cross-checked, and a policy issued based on false information can be contested for two years. If anything in the data looks risky, the carrier can ask for an exam or tests anyway.

Who tends to qualify

Usually people younger than 60, applying for amounts under the carrier's fast-track threshold, with no serious past illnesses, and who haven't used any tobacco in a year or longer. Recent medical work with blood tests can sometimes substitute for a fresh exam.

If required, the exam typically takes 20 to 30 minutes and happens at your home or workplace in the Hemet region, at no charge to you. For applicants with good health markers, exam results often lower the rate tier, so it's not always a setback.
